Special Olympics Kenya holds world games qualifying competitions after every 2 years alternating summer and winter sports. Competitions start from county-level where athletes in Special Olympics Kenya clubs, Special schools, or Primary School Special Units with teams come together and compete against each other to produce a team that will progress to the regional game. The teams which qualify at this level all proceed to, National. At this level teams from the regionals are divisioned to have 2 pools of high performing and those who are low ability. The athletes/ teams which qualify in their divisions make up the national team which represents the county during the Special Olympics summer/winter games.
